Out of all the bakeries I could’ve went to in WestField, I somehow ended up at the bakery on the bottom floor at Bristol Farms. I’m not sure what it is that makes the grocery store so inviting, but there’s always something about it that screams, “come in and spend your money!”. I was at the bakery patiently waiting for help and the guy behind the counter finally asks me, “What can I help you with”? I told him that I was looking for a whole cake and he pointed at the shelf that I could choose from. With all of their selection, it surprised me that they didn’t have cheesecake. I asked for the filling of a couple of the cakes (since it wasn’t listed) and he had to reach through and pull out the label. After I choose the red velvet cake, I asked if he could add a personal message with icing. He suggested that I pay for the cake (while he was icing) and come back to pick it up. The checkout line was wonderful – there was not a line! The check out lady was nice enough. She suggested that I grab a brown bag for the cake. When I went back to the bakery to pick up the cake, there was another guest talking to the bakery guy. He stopped talking as I approached the counter. As the bakery guy returned with the cake, I handed him the brown bag. He said, “Oh that’s not going to fit. Let me put handles on the box for you”. I was very appreciative and as I stood there waiting for the bakery guy to put tape handles on the box, his friend tells me, “Nothing he gives you will EVER fit”. We both chuckled.
